New Charlotte 49er watch released in celebration of 4/9 Day
April 9, 2026: Charlotte, NC — In celebration of 4/9 Day, honoring the UNC Charlotte 49ers, SPGBK Watches is proud to debut the official Charlotte 49er watch collection today, April 9, 2026. The release offers students, alumni, and supporters a new way to represent the 49er community.
The launch also represents a full-circle moment for SPGBK founder and CEO, Kwame Molden, whose journey with the university helped shape the foundation of the brand.
The concept for SPGBK began during his time in the MBA program at the Belk College of Business, where his concentration in marketing provided the blueprint for building what is now a nationally recognized retail brand. Today, the company can be found in more than 300 retail stores, including Nordstrom & Belk.
“As a 2012 MBA graduate, UNC Charlotte is where the blueprint for SPGBK was first drawn,” said Molden. “To partner with the university for 4/9 Day feels like a homecoming. We wanted to create something that wasn’t just a watch, but a symbol of the ‘Niner’ determination and the community that supported my journey from the classroom to major retail stores.”
